I am an English Contemporary Abstract Artist living in Germany. After leaving school I went on to serve in Her Majesty’s Royal Navy for many enjoyable years, It was there i was given the nickname Ovies which I lovingly use in all my artwork today, i then left the Royal Navy to work as a plasterer, i found out that anything involving the use my hands was what I enjoyed the most. Unfortunately a back injury resulted in me having to give up work, so i then began teaching myself to paint and I fell head over heels in love with abstract art, so abstracts became what I enjoyed the most and acrylics became my main medium of choice. I grew up in beautiful Kent (England’s garden) with its amazing countryside and coastal areas and i was very fortunate to have a good family network there, many of my family are also creative from flowers to photos, glass to wool and wood to paint so i really didn’t have to look very far to be inspired. My much loved late father was my biggest inspiration, to me it seemed whatever he touched always resulted in something very special. We as artist or in fact any creative person will always need a buffer, someone who is honest and will not hold back, that buffer for me is a very important part of this ongoing journey in my life and she is my biggest fan, critic, bank roller and very patient wife Mady, for it is she who tells me how it is, how it could be and gives me the encouragement I need to put colour to canvas.
